Meet Michael F, Daltrey’s Director of Operations

We’re extremely pleased to welcome Michael Field to team Daltrey this month. As we continue to grow and rapidly scale our operations, Michael has the job of ensuring we stay focused and agile, as well as safe in the workplace. And with an excellent resume and expertise in cyber security, he’s just the man for the job! Here’s what he has to say about his new role.   

 

What‘s your role at Daltrey?  

I’m our Director of Operations.

What did you do before joining Team Daltrey?  

I was Business Optimisation Lead at Lion Australia & New Zealand (the adult beverage company), focusing on business strategy and operations and process maturity.

What part of your role are you most excited about?  

Making the team’s life easier so they can focus on what they’re awesome at delivering. So many basic day-to-day activities unnecessarily take up our team’s time freeing them up to focus on the product and delivery is my primary goal, followed closely by focusing on preparing to scale our operations as we grow. 

What does a typical day look like for you? 

Early morning exercise and walking our puppy, Wolf, in Bronte gully. Starting the work day with a clear plan for what needs to be achieved, while making sure I have time to think and research better ways of operating as a business. Also, not being sedentary and spending time with the team to work out what’s working and what isn’t is key to delivering better and more agile operations.  

What are you doing when you’re not at work?  

Studying Cyber Security at the University of Sydney, volunteering as a life saver at Tamarama SLSC, reading history, and puppy training Wolf.

What’s a random fact we should know about you? 

I’ve climbed four of the seven summits (the tallest mountain on each continent – Antarctica, Russia, and Everest to come!).

Damian Lewis, Toby Stephens or Brendan Gleeson (when I am older!)
